Jorge leads engineering, permitting, and regulatory compliance. He has 10 years of experience in environmental engineering working in the public and private sectors with a focus on organics recycling.
Prior to Atlas, he worked for the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts biosolids management program (450,000 WTPY), NC DEQ, Smith Gardner (engineering consultants), and Peace Corps Panama. Jorge has visited over 80 organics recycling facilities in the US and abroad and is part of the teaching staff for the USCC/CCREF 40-hour Compost Operations Training Course. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in NC and MD and a certified Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP, by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure), and is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Jorge holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and a degree of Master of Biological and Agricultural Engineering from NC State University. He resides in Washington, DC, with his wife, Catherine.
